First up, a season that began in the second day of the new year reaches its climax as The Challenge Vendettas concludes with the back-end of the Reunion Finale... the real finale in the minds of many. The kind of intensity and insanity that defines any reunion for an MTV season rolls along as the cast continue to dish and discuss the season that was... feuds, fights, friendships, hook-ups and a lot more. And at hour's end, the four finalists who made it to the last puzzle station will find out who will be crowned, for the very first time in the show's history, the first solo champion and all the spoils.
Then after all of that, the focus shifts to the third installment of The Challenge's spinoff series that has established itself in the past year, as Champs vs. Stars Season 2 kicks off. Three previous champs and an all-star group of names familiar and fresh in this universe will square off against a group of pro athletes, entertainment high-rollers and a familiar Brit as they once again compete in high stakes competition for supremacy and for charity. So, probably not as packed or as dramatic a Double Shot Challenge night as it was when Champs vs. Stars debuted last winter the night Dirty 30 finally ended, but if there was a no-doubter then it would be of Cara Maria winning Vendettas, and it's a third finals win and a second Challenge crown for this beast of a competitor. And we saw Champs vs. Stars III kick off with Mr. Tony Time once again prevailing with twists aplenty coming up for the spinoff, including Champs AND Stars competing on the same team, among other things. As we always like to say, quite a night.
Now as loyal visitors to this site know, we save our write-up recap of the episodes for later on so those of you who've been binge-reading this diary can take some much needed time to rest those eyes. But for the next few weeks, we're gonna be spreading it around a bit to fit the beginning of a busy spring for MTV fans.
If you didn't check out our Look Ahead from a week ago, the plan is this: as is custom for the final act of any major series, this week's WRAP will be devoted entirely to the Vendettas finale, including evaluating the roads of all the finalists and here, Cara's third finals win in some 26 months. And our recaps for Champs vs. Stars will commence in two weeks from now when we'll look at the key moments of the first three weeks of the season along with the usual suspects of analysis, power rankings and much more.
