MTV Reality WRAP: Siesta Key - Fireworks in the Caribbean

Hello everyone, aren't you all recovered from an eventful second weekend of July? After a double dose of football, Conor getting KO'd again and Big Brother kicking off, many of you preferred to stay home to enjoy all those just as the West Coast was baked by a good old heatwave while Florida and the East Coast endured the season's first hurricane. And the temps are only rising when it comes to the drama, and it's best that we let kids of Siesta Key warm up our summertime as their Caribbean escape rolls on. 

Last we were on Palm Island in Saint Vincent & the Grenadines, something we know very well around here in having covered all four American seasons of Ex On The Beach came to this show: an ex making a grand entrance. In this case, it was Cara - ex of both Garrett and Alex, who came down south a week later than the rest of the crew and promptly tried to make amends with the clique, while the gym rat proposed with a promise ring to girlfriend Kenna. Also arriving to Palm Island was social influencer Serena Kerrigan, who took a break from her Let's F'in Date thing to help Juliette with her fashion ambitions, all while Madisson and Amanda got into it while shooting for Kelsey's own fashion line.

On the subject of EOTB, we at DCBLOG have been covering this MTV Reality beat for eight years now, and as we embark on our ninth season here something we've been accustomed while following The Challenge, Real World, the many shows with Shore in their title and the like has been conflict that happens when things get testy as the cameras are rolling. And considering everything that's been boiling up in the first three episodes in the Caribbean, it's almost inevitable that things will blow up... and after the break, we'll bring you some belated holiday fireworks from the Caribbean on this edition of the DCBLOG Siesta Key WRAP.


  THINGS TO KNOW  
EPISODE 8 ▪ "Things Will Never Be the Same"

🛫 ISH LEAVES THE ISLAND - Amidst the heat of this trip, this Caribbean vacation has afforded the opportunity for Madisson and Ish to spend some quality time together as well as getting to mark their engagement in taking plenty of pictures for prosperity until the big wedding day comes around. But as the trip gets deeper into the calendar, so does longing for home and, in the case of this producer - also taking care of production matters back in L.A.  Ish has to tend to the ladder, which understandably sees Maddy heartbroken in having to be separated again, which also brings into focus her mental health.



🎥 BG IN THE MIDDLE - Brandon is finding himself in the heart of this episode for a couple reasons... but even before what goes down after dark he's still in the middle of the latest love triangle. Last year, he was in one with Amanda and Camilla... and this time around the ladder is still part of that, but in place of the former in Jordana after their hookup to begin this escapade. So the question here is, which ship are you on -- Team Jandon or Team Wamilla?!



🥊 FIREWORKS IN PALM ISLAND - Being an all-around MTV fan, I'm used to big drama that ensues when the drinks are flowing, the people are pretty, some pent up anger is had and the cameras are rolling. While we've seen so many of them on those aforementioned shows above, Siesta has also had its fireworks too: Chloe's birthday at the Tiki bar, Alex & Pauly getting into it with Jared to start season 2, and Kel & Jules' housewarming last year.
   For this week's bash, the crew gets together to mark the premiere of Brandon's "Malibu" video which had help from many of the ladies both in front of and behind the camera. But it's after that video ends that things start to unravel: Jordana and Camilla get into it over claims that she's been a groupie with the musician and she gets pushed into the pool. But that is just a minor occurrence compared to the latest in the Juliette/Kelsey beef: the former decides to slap the model... and it's so big that not even MTV itself could post a clip of that fight on their social channels -- leaving to us to do this little recap of this.
   As it always the case for any fight that goes down on an MTV Reality show, there are bound to be consequences.... and on the morning and day after the island deals with it.

WEEK 5 IN PARADISE

The fifth week in paradise also saw Joe and Steph go deeper into their relationship, and that is also featured along with everything else in the SocialPulse below - and brace yourself, it is a long one. And as I wasn't able to watch Episode 7 as I went over to visit my sister & the kids to begin the long 4th of July weekend, I had to delay watching this episode until before this week's -- hence, the "Backtracked" text at the top of this recap. And the nice thing about this is, we will have this week's episode covered here shortly... we'll see you then.
