We welcome you on back to MTV's own version of paradise in a pandemic, known alternatively as Siesta Key's Caribbean Vacation... and if you thought your last trip to an island getaway was dramatic, than you've surely not seen or experienced what has gone down with our cool clique from Florida. And to put this month-long excursion from the Sunshine State to Saint Vincent & the Grenadines in Cliff Notes form, it started with Juliette's wealthy boyfriend Sam treating everyone to this excursion to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines on his own wallet.

Since they and the rest of the crew arrived in the West Indies, they've seen a Siesta OG sail off into the sunset, an introduction to mainstream America to the social influencer known as SFK, and a hookup by the artist who made that five-figure painting of the queen, among other things. And last we were on Palm Island, something we are familiar with from having covered eight years' worth of MTV craziness on here went down: a party night turned chaotic in a couple fights going down by the sand.

As we rejoin them here, everyone is still abuzz about Jordana getting pushed into the pool and Juliette slapping Kelsey in the latest chapter in Siesta's biggest beef. And whenever something wild like this happens -- and just as it is on the other shows we cover on here, there are bound to be consequences and an immense fallout. We'll have our DCBLOG WRAP of the final week of the Siesta Key's excursion to Palm Island just ahead, along with some perspective.

AFTER THE BLOWUP

Before our recap of Episode 9, some objective context: as an all-around MTV Reality viewer for over two decades, I'm used to the kind of amped-up drama that ensues when the cameras are rolling and when all the puzzle pieces are in place. Yes, it's obviously a huge attention grabber and one that, if you love trashy and fun television like this, there's nothing like it... and given my experience in this field watching this it takes having some kind of perspective about the events of Week 3 in paradise, but also to notable fights from the other shows that I watch and cover here.
The first Challenge I got to watch seriously, Battle of the Seasons II in 2012, had just about everyone who made it to the halfway point in Turkey get involved in a huge blowup.... just watch Episode 9 of that underrated season and you'll find out why Nany is such an emotional lady in that environment. The ensuing Real World season that took place in Portland, OR a year later saw the infamous fight involving Johnny, Nia and Averey, which was then followed by Ceejai and Jenna on the show's third trip to Vegas, Jennifer and a Stack sister in Seattle, and Clint and Dondre in Atlanta -- the most recent in a long line of big blowups that's gone down many times on both of those shows.
As someone who was brought into the Shore franchise by way of Siesta's crazy neighbors, Floribama Shore has had their moments in the fighting category most especially with what has gone down with Gus & Jeremiah and their fellow housemates, along with of course their Jersey counterparts. And Ex On The Beach on our shores have seen a lot of those fights go down when the sights of former exes come onto the scene... and there's so many others too that we just can't single out in this opinion piece.
For here in the Key, with everyone being stranded on this island they had nowhere to go to... they have to put up with those that they don't like for an entire month. They had to go through the kind of thing that those who do those other reality shows are used to that those on this show aren't... and it's this kind of stir crazy environment that is sure to change the dynamic of this clique. And it will sure be the case with Juliette and how she deals with the rest of the group after her Kelsey slap.
This is the third time that Jules has found herself in this situation: her and Chloe at the housewarming and then with Amanda at that same gathering, then going off on Garrett at Christmas, and now this with Kelsey... and we've also seen her many arguments with Alex that didn't get to that level. Was it right for her to go off in that manner? We will let you be the judge in that argument... but this will no doubt change many viewers' perception of her as more than just the main character in this drama. And it was right on her part for her and Sam to fly out and avoid getting into more fireworks which would not have been good at all.

  THINGS TO KNOW
EPISODE 9 ▪ "That Girl is Lost"

🀞 MADISSON'S STATE - Last time out, we saw Madisson tear up once again at seeing Ish also fly out of the Caribbean, head home to California and leaving her alone for the last week-plus. It's been difficult once again for her to get used to being thousands of miles away from her fiancΓ©, and here she talks to Serena about how she's been handling it.

πŸ‘© A NEW SIDE OF CARA - When what happened with her went down last year, Cara would find herself out of Florida and the group... only for a call by Madisson to try and make amends with everyone else after we saw that brief glimpse of her when we went up to New York. To think that we would see her on our screens again would have been a wild idea... and something even more crazier would be her and her ex's ex bonding over their hate of one girl --- check it out.

πŸ‘©‍❤️‍πŸ‘¨ IS #WAMILLA STILL A THING? - After all the drama that surrounded his chaotic "Malibu" party, it was Brandon whose plans to have that party be nothing but celebratory turn into something else. It's safe to say that this Caribbean excursion has been eventful after the hookup with Jordana, and that might also put into doubt his plans to try and win back Camilla...
