MTV Reality WRAP: Siesta Key - A Return to the Sunshine, and A Baby Shower

Well, welcome on in to the dog days of summer 2021 in the wide world of MTV Reality... but as of this past week, we now have more than a bit of clarity on what's ahead as far as television's most exciting reality programming, and we'll delve into all of that for you here coming up. But for the time being, our focus in the MTV community is on the Sarasota, FL suburb of Siesta Key, as Season 4 continues on back in the American mainland after a most memorable vacation.

For the past month, the crew has called the Caribbean their home -- specifically, Saint Vincent & the Grenadines and the private oasis known as Palm Island in the West Indies. But in the past two weeks, an eventful trip saw its biggest moment go down: a time to celebrate Brandon's music video went awry when Jordana got pushed into the pool, and Juliette decided to make her case to join The Challenge once her days as the queen of the Key ends by pulling a Tina -- that is, slapping a girl. Her going HAM on Kelsey saw her & Sam leave early last week as the rest of the group tried to pick up the pieces in their last days in paradise.

Now, the group has returned to reality of sorts, but they're not stopping there... there is a return to the clique for the one who didn't go on that trip down south, some exciting news for one of the girls and her boyfriend, and a baby shower for the resident dad to celebrate which he hopes will be less drama than it was on the island. And DCBLOG will have it all covered on the Siesta Key WRAP just ahead here...

EPISODE 9 ▪ "Compassion And 
Kindness Is The Way To Go"

🚪 CHLOE AT THE DOOR - We begin with the return: when Sam sent out those invites for the Caribbean vacation at the engagement party, Chloe was the only one who declined... and as it turns out, it must've been the wise choice considering what went down on Palm Island. When everyone returns home from the Grenadines, the one who loves that gossip comes to Amanda's door and, obviously, she would want to hear more about all that she missed there in the West Indies. And when she hears about what went down, Chloe makes a big suggestion: try and mend things with the two frenemies.



📅 MADISSON'S CHOICE - Even before what went down at the video premiere party, one person was already getting stressed out... and it was when Ish left early that Madisson was once again feeling the emptiness that comes with a boyfriend (or in this case, fiancé) being left alone. She's put it out there that her mental health has been tested quite a bit by him leaving early to go back home... and it's having to bear the weight of being in this public relationship that, when she gets together with her parents at the venue of the biggest day of her life, that the big day will have to wait.



🙈 MAX MOVES IN - Another couple who have made it work - and who also have a bit of stability on the romantic front - has been Kelsey and Max... and even with the events of what happened on Palm Island it hasn't bothered them even one bit. However, they've been doing the long-distance thing - albeit a little closer than Maddy & Ish as he is a zookeeper in Georgia. But as they enjoyed their time together down in the Caribbean, he realized that he'd be better off be closer to her... thus, Max decides to move to Florida. But since we don't have the clip on file of Max making it official that he's coming down south, we'll just show you this viral clip of a monkey of his embracing a zoo guest.




🍼 QUINCY'S DAY - For this week's party in the Key, it turns back to Brandon -- but instead of BG the rapper it's the daddy side of him that's being honored. He throws a baby shower - which takes place later than usual after the surprising revelation on last year's virtual reunion... and everyone stops by to say a belated congrats to the only father on this cast. Jordana gets invited to the quaint gathering and an awkward moment takes place when they look eye to eye, but other than that no drama goes down... but the real drama perhaps might come from what might be inside Sam's big box.









🚣 YOGA, PADDLE & CHILL - Sometimes on reality shows, we learn new things that we've never heard of or seen before... in this case, there's one aspect of Chloe's new mission of bettering herself with something that's a way of life in Florida. Here, she gets to combine doing yoga with also going paddle boarding when she invites Maddy and Kelsey for that day-after journey on the water to clear the water. And when Chloe decides to bring the model aside, this is what goes down next...

As we bring you the 'Pulse of this week's trip to Siesta Key, other highlights included Amanda trying to talk to Juliette but being denied by Sam -- and we still haven't seen her since the fight.

Before we leave, a program note: after the Episode 11 Key WRAP next weekend, DCBLOG will turn its attention to the series of Olympic posts that will be up on here throughout the Tokyo Games after this coming Friday's Opening Ceremony. The DCNOW Twitter hub which I utilize for live episode tweets will be devoted almost solely to Olympic content, from live watches of the big events and the NBC network's nighttime coverage to all the buzz from Japan... and you can follow @DC408DxNow for all of that, using the hashtag #DCGames21 and my Olympic list on @DC408Dxtr.
   At the same time, I will also be preparing to cover the just-announced new season of The Challenge: Spies, Lies and Allies taking place in Croatia, and which will have the baton being passed over from the Key heads on MTV Wednesday three nights after the Olympic flame goes out on August 11. Of course, this site will offer SocialPulse episode posts, original coverage with our trademark ExtraTime stories and our traditional preseason content with our season preview and a 2-part Season 37 edition of Who Are These Newbies?... and our coverage begins after the Closing Ceremony on Sunday, August 8th.
   It's with this in mind that after next week, we'll be tabling our recaps of the last two episodes of this Siesta Key season -- at least the summer portion of it -- for when we cover the first act of Spies, Lies & Allies the weekend of August 14th, for which I'll be planning to watch those two episodes prior to all the action kicking off in Europe... we may even take a look ahead at who is being cast for the next season of The Challenge's All-Star series on Paramount+ and season 5 of Ex On The Beach USA -- both of which are slated to begin filming in the next week while my focus will be on the Olympics.
