DC ExtraTime: More Pranks with That Florida Man & His Florida Friends

This past weekend, all of us got to put 2021 in the same category as 2020 and the thousands of other years that came before it: giving it a proper send-off on the year's last day and a night of partying that lasted last well into the first hours of New Year's Day (and in the case of this year, the long New Year's weekend). The year's final seven days gave every journalistic organization a chance to look back on the year's biggest news and some of their most memorable stories of the last twelve months... and while we aren't a big operation by any means we at DCBLOG still have our own collection of outstanding work from the 365 days that just past. But one that seems to stand out in many ways has to do with something that brings together a reality soap opera with comedy and stranger things that will want you to forget for a moment how bad the past twenty-four months have been in this world.

By way of the hundreds of those who've entertained you on a cable channel that's been around since your parents were your age, the ExtraTime series has afforded us many opportunities to introduce you to some incredible people in the ten years of our coverage of the world Inside MTV Reality television. We have featured other reality stars from outside the channel, musicians, athletes and beyond whenever they meet the personalities of the most-talked about reality shows there are... but our most profiled people on here outside our primary beat over the years have been social media influencers and personalities from YouTube, TikTok, SnapChat and Instagram who dominate the timelines on their respective apps, and whose videos on those platforms are just about everywhere you go.

And while we have featured that guy from Ohio who's burst onto the scene through his much-hyped boxing fights and him bringing two girls from the same MTV show to his pool and into his heart, there is another YouTuber who has made his mark in the world of viral videos without all of the hype that surrounds Jake Paul or his older brother Logan. And provided that things have not spiraled out of control where you live -- and as many of us report back to work and to school on this Monday after the 2-week long winter break for Christmas and New Year's, the man known as RossCreations and his troupe of pranksters have given us reason to look forward to the start of the week, including this first weekday.

Everyone nowadays has heard of the Internet meme "Florida Man," which first came up in the last decade and returned to the forefront during the year from hell. It is for the fact that those on social media and the web love to share links to stories of unusual happenings in the Sunshine State. Florida's freedom of information laws offers more leeway for the media to obtain information about police arrests than other states and big cities... especially with Miami being where the obsession of sensationalized local TV news coverage and excessive crime coverage began in the late 1980's.

Back in May before Season 4 of Siesta Key premiered, and before we were welcomed back into that unique enclave of sandy beaches in the Tampa Bay area with Juliette, Kelsey and friends, we came across RossCreations -- actual name: Charles Ross. He had already become known to his YouTube subscribers and Facebook followers for his many viral prank videos that might be a bit understated compared to the buzz that surrounds the Paul brothers and so many other YouTubers. But Ross has still made the start of the week a day to look forward to when his eleven-minutes & 46-seconds long prank compilation is posted on YouTube, including today as those of us who are able to return to classrooms and cubicles from the holidays.

The reason why we were drawn to Ross was that two guys who were bit part players in the drama of the past couple years in Siesta were brought over from MTV to YouTube and to help ease our Monday blues -- and who also call home the Sarasota area which surrounds Siesta on the outskirts of Tampa Bay. If you watched the Season 2 premiere three years ago this month, Jared Kelderman came back to Florida from a tour of duty with the U.S. Navy, and him invading the Spring Break backyard birthday bash of his high school vendetta, Alex Kompo, ignited a massive brawl involving them and one who also got in the ring on the undercard of Lamar Odom's October fight night, Pauly Paul. And with Amanda Miller now being more of a prominent figure on the show, Season 3 in 2020 saw her in a love triangle with Brandon Gomes and JJ Mizell, where the ladder was in a tumultuous relationship with Amanda.

Jared and JJ joined Ross and his good friend Kole Clark last year to take on the big role of giving us reason to forget all the bad stuff and Monday jitters for those 11:46 at the start of our work week. The RossCreations videos routinely garner over one million views in a week's span on YouTube, as well as many millions more on Facebook where those pranks are posted on a daily basis. And below, plenty more of those pranks with that Florida man and his Florida friends...

🤣    🤣    🤣

As DCBLOG returns from an unforeseen break for the New Year's week due to this blogger having a case of the pinkeye, we enter our tenth year on here with plenty to offer to begin 2022: episode coverage of the last few weeks of the fall '21 coverage cycle with The Challenge and Floribama Shore, plus a second story related to Siesta Key in some of the cast hanging out with the bad boys of TikTok -- take what happened when Jake went into the ring once again a few weeks as a starting point to all of this. Watch out for all of those in the first few weeks of this January on here, plus over on DC YouTube set number #2 of the #DCVegas XI vlog series covering my second day in Vegas two months ago... Happy New Year, kids.
