We at DCBLOG are in the last stretch of covering a year in the world of The MTV Challenge that started with an episode of Season 36 that gave us relief on a most surreal Wednesday. And here we are more than a full year later as we now get to wrap up covering 2021 in this world where, in between, we've seen two full regular seasons and two full spinoff seasons. The ladder of those will be the focus of the rest of this wave of posts, and we'll be covering all of that here a bit later on here.

For the first of this last wave of posts covering the fifth major pro sport, it was back in August that Season 37 of Spies, Lies & Allies began. Without getting to elaborate on all transpired between then and the holidays, it was quite a mish-mash. But the last time we talked to you on Challenge matters was on Christmas: that was when we covered the finale. The eight who made it to the end -- CT, Devin, Emy, Kaycee, Kyle, Nany, Nelson and Tori -- earned their way into the season's last act, and they were split into two teams for the first half of the two-day final before being paired up one more time as they were tested in every aspect of this game... but it was what happened at the start of day 2 that brought out the feels: the lovers were split up during a heartbreaking double elimination. In the end, it was Kaycee who won that battle and proved that you don't have to make a lot of noise and still be victorious: she won that final in the company of CT, who now becomes a five-time champion.

All that is left to do is for the champions, the runners-up and other members of this cast to join up one more time, both in-person and virtually, for the season-ending reunion. One who is a veteran of all of these discussions, Maria Menounos, is serving as our moderator once again as she will help to debrief everything that went down in Croatia -- from Nany & Kaycee's relationship to the game and everything else. And after the break, we bring you -- in an embedded style -- our final DCBLOG Challenge SocialPulse of Season 37: the reunion, along with the big news involving a reigning queen & king who are about to become parents. And welcome to the weekend... and welcome back Inside MTV Reality.

Finally: when we gave 2021 a final sendoff three weeks ago tonight, it signaled the start of the milestone tenth anniversary year of DCBLOG. Though this site's official birthday won't be until May right around Mother's Day weekend, yours truly takes a great deal of pride in offering plenty of outstanding content over these last ten years and almost 1500 posts. Our MTV coverage didn't begin until two months into our infancy, but thanks to covering every episode in The Challenge franchise and other shows during this time and having done so many stories from this great passion of mine, we proudly boast a solid status as a website of record and the gold standard in this business.
And what we covered above in this Challenge reunion offers a bridge to this brief word here in this footnote: one of those first posts of going "Inside MTV Reality" came back in July of 2013 when we offered a different look at the reunion of the last "normal" season of The Real World: the Portland season that introduced us to 3-time champ Jordan Wiseley, and which came at the outset of when MTV reality shows began taking on that personal nature thanks to the interactivity of social media and when the podcast craze began. If you caught that last non-twist season of RW, you may remember his dealings with that girl from down in Atlanta who first made her national TV debut on a dating show a year prior, Nia Moore... just everything we saw from when the hurricane hit Oregon defined that season.

A featured subject in the first installment of our occasional showcase of opinion & chatter known here as DC FORUM was Kevin Gonzalez from just up the way from the New York City area, who got to watch the reunion from the audience along with MTV superfan Kaitlyn Macisco, and Brian Cohen who has become the resident expert on The Challenge in the Rob Has A Podcast community -- and the one who hosted that reunion also hosted this season's Challenge one in Maria. Kevin might not be as big an MTV fan as those two other people or me -- he's a bit more of a wrestling and EDM fan.
But when we entered the new year, he shared the following note on social media, writing in part: "I want to bring in 2022 just like anyone else: a whole new beginning. I am officially making it known that I am bisexual and damn it feels good. I’m happy to know that I have people in my corner that love me no matter what. If this is something you don’t agree with, that’s just too bad. Just know my personality still remains the same prior to this announcement and after. Thank y’all for the support and I look forward to this new chapter and what 2022 has to offer. Happy New Year."

Things have evolved quite a bit in our society when it comes to the LGBTQ+ community: while RW Portland was airing, California courts were hearing arguments on Prop 8, a controversial law that two years later, saw an act of the Supreme Court make same-sex marriage law of the land. Also during this time, we saw black LGBT rapper Lil Nas X make music history, several prominent athletes come out of the closet, and MTV devote a season of Are You The One? to the sexually-fluid community.
A lot of people used New Year's Day as announce new marriages, new pregnancies and all sorts of new beginnings to ring in 2022 and hopefully to a better year than a lot of us had though some had it better than others. And in Kevin's case, he chose the first day of this year to announce that he's bisexual, and he joined with so many others around the world to come out of the closet. And we say, thanks Kevin in proving that love wins and that you can love anybody... we're all with you.

And that will do it from us here for now... All-Stars will be the focus this weekend as we cover the rests of the episodes on here and into next week, and there's also plenty of other things to come too. DC YouTube also has some more from #DCVegas XI this weekend with more from what was my favorite moment of my trip: a night at the newest gem of the Strip, Resorts World. We'll see you then...
