For those who are into the world of the show that we follow more than any other, it has been the new year in the world of The MTV Challenge for the past few months... and Ride or Dies rages on down in Argentina. And last we brought you all the action, reaction and interaction from the home of the World Cup champions, we saw the one sign that things are about to get a bit more interesting than anything else: a change-up at midseason... it's something we refer to here as a "Teej-bomb." A game-changing twist has split up the ride or die pairs into two teams -- something similar to this occurred on the last Challenge with a similar theme of sorts on Bloodlines. And we also had some duels above the water to begin the season's second half with the help of the Shrek characters, and Horacio enter rare air of winning in elimination four times in one season as a rookie.
The midseason shakeup is one tradition we take for granted in any Challenge season, but as we return to South America another is about to be unleashed on the challengers -- and it's one that the host looks forward to every time TJ Lavin and the production big-wigs have that it scheduled on their lineup. Of course, we are talking about trivia... and not only will the brains of our competitors get tested in their eleventh daily challenge -- they have to also endure going for a ride on a wheel like they're on Wheel of Fortune. And one pair of Ride or Dies will also find themselves in the hart of the matter: one finding himself on the outs with his new team, and his partner having worries that her budding relationship might make her the next target for that plane ride back home.
Straight ahead, our first DCBLOG post of 2023 brings you the 'Pulse of Week 11 of Ride or Dies... but that is hardly the only thing that dominated the pre-Christmas buzz in Challenge Nation: we'll also have more on the exchange a player on The Challenge: USA last year had about her day job -- and it's something we have covered before. Below, our latest installment of trivia in Challenge land and Amber adding more to her understated Challenge career taking down Nurys. And there are two stories involving the two combatants that we'll be getting to the heart of coming up later on here -- and both involve having relations in some sort with other MTV people. You don't wanna miss those...

ALYSSA CLAPS BACK
Our diary began above with not someone on this Ride or Dies cast, but one who made her mark on what is now the Big Brother season of two years ago -- and one that has gotten richer over the fall in Derek Xiao & his girlfriend Claire Rehfuss winning The Amazing Race. But to think that all is riches when it comes to being a reality star, that is not exactly the case.
A few times before on here, we have discussed in some sort perhaps the most important contribution to American life by the folks in Tampa Bay of the Hooters restaurant chain. Two-time Challenger and alum of the next MTV Reality show to be rented out to Netflix in Real World Portland's Averey Tressler has & still works in the Phoenix area -- and it's because of it being one of their sponsors that she got to meet up with 2021 NASCAR Cup Series champion Chase Elliott when he clinched that title in Arizona.
Before being chosen for those two shows, Alyssa worked at a Hooters restaurant -- and not just any, it's one located in the company's home territory of the greater Tampa Bay & Sarasota area. It's the stigma of serving up that food wearing that iconic white top that raised the ire of one Twitter user... but in her own way she responded to him in the tweet below: "I'm confused why you think I should be embarrassed by this? For a keen observation of all this, we all gotta remember that many of these reality stars are not as well-known as others... and they have normal duties to go about as normal people, just like all of you reading this site. Often, these jobs -- whether it's working at a local restaurant that may or may not have the kind or notoriety Hooters has or any other occupation or even going to college for the younger kids -- has to do something to help foot the bill. Alyssa is not alone when it comes to all this.

As you saw up above, this first week of 2022 has been quite the one to remember: Tuesday night saw the kickoff to the second Teen Mom Family Vacation coming on the heels of us watching Cheyenne getting hitched to fiancé Zach, the iconic RuPaul's Drag Race moving to MTV beginning on Friday, and the launch on Thursday of the return of Are You The One?. The ladder gave this one reason to get excited for our return to the Truth Booth... and we'll be previewing Season 9 coming up next weekend. But first things first, we have more Challenge coverage coming up ahead.
