Last week saw the inward half of this season begin with a dominant American team still in control and the British side just continuing to see players go by the wayside, even though the allure of joining the league leaders hasn't been enough to break the strong loyalty of those flying the Union Jack. A hybrid of a puzzle, a plane and see-saw saw the teams collide into each other, but it wasn't enough to break the U.S. in the competition itself as they once again won. And once again, the Brits had to be content with visits to an American tribunal and then in elimination... and in an all-Love Island battle Theo came out on top over Idris. But what had everyone talking was more U.S. tension, specifically involving the American men: Paulie, Jordan, Josh and an adopted one in Turbo.
Two years ago, the theme of the first leg of the trilogy was "Dirty 30," and it was where dirty players ruled the day in the first Challenge season to have a $1 million prize pool for a season that didn't exactly level up to the amount of money on the line there in Europe. That offers some context for this week's episode, where a confrontation among two of the aforementioned men above will send some tremors over the game. For arguably the biggest one to not have a championship ring to his resume, he decides to finally play the game and risking a friendship with a ride or die in the process. And the teams have a battle all dripped not in blood, but in mud in a challenge combining football and the wet dirt... and it's a must-win for the Brits if they have any shot at taking down the Americans. If they do, perhaps they can leave out any hope for someone from the other side to jump ship and join them.
