Welcome to the month of March, which means we're now into the springtime as meteorology sees it, and that means for many of you the mayhem of Spring Break is right around the corner. A place that will be a hub for most of the next month's extracurricular activities is the state of Florida, and a town outside Sarasota is also the venue for the intoxicating drama that is MTV's Siesta Key, as Season 3 rolls along.

Previously the summer of parties in the Key continued on, and this time it was Jared who was feted -- coming ironically at where he made his dramatic entrance: Alex's family mansion where they got into a brawl last year. It was Jared's birthday as they celebrated him and he also had his party interrupted by a call from a skeleton from his past... but it was also where Juliette came to the house uninvited and proceeded to push her ex into the pool. And there was also a pregnancy scare when Madisson thought she was knocked up by her ex-producer boyfriend Ish, but it turned out to be negative.

At that same party there, we also found that Jared is the only member of the entire Siesta Key family who knows what it's like to have a wedding ring... and now his ex is about to come to town the same week that two friends who were reunited for business sake turn their attention to reopening a new bar. Dive in with us for our WRAP of Episode 8 before a special Double Shot comes our way tonight... fittingly enough on 3/3 and offering a perfect viewing alternative on this Super Tuesday.

 THINGS TO KNOW
EPISODE 8

MEET THE EX: At his birthday party, Jared eagerly awaited a call from his ex-wife, Jessica, who planned on flying out to Florida after the celebration winds away. He meets his mom for lunch as an Italian restaurant, and she tells him her disappointed she is for him that Jessica cheated on him while he was away from California on deployment in the Navy, and that time where the former daughter-in-law wanted to go home with him but got stopped by Mama Kelderman. Jared then meets Jessica for the first time since their breakup and not much drama happens with them, and they meet up with the rest of the crew at an outdoor bar, as well as at this week's party. More from that soon enough.

TRUTH AT THE CLUB: Last year, Alex & Chloe were at each other's throats over his romance with her friend Juliette and it ended with her cutting things off at his mansion. But it would take for Papa Kompo and his purchase of the 70-year-old Crescent Club to bring the former friends back together. There, they are managing the beloved neighborhood pub on behalf of the entrepreneur who had his birthday over the weekend, and they hold a reopening party that everyone goes to.
While her attention is on throwing that party at Crescent Club, Chloe also spends much of her time on her investigative beat trying to find out what happened with Juliette and Alex with their text messages and their 6-hour phone conversation. When the girls get together at a local restaurant (and she gives Chloe a replacement pair of yellow shades), Jules admits that what she did at the pool party was uncalled for... and she lets her know that Alex has also started some calls himself with others.
Later at Crescent, Chloe decides to take it in on Alex for lying about Jules in those chats with the ex as he tries to defend himself. And on her advice, he has to come clean about it to Alyssa though he tries to downplay it as much as he can. When his girlfriend finds out about his digital ways, she wonders why she's hearing about it for the first time, as he tries to laugh it off before he admits that what he did was stupid and apologizes. All this takes place as Jules gives Alex & Alyssa a present, apologizes to them for her fight, and they find a new bathing suit after what happened previously.

THE LOVE TRIANGLE: It's not just the former exes who are in the headlines this episode: there's also some business concerning the love triangle that is Brandon, Amanda and JJ. The last time they were together in the same place for a party like this she was kissing her ex outside the saloon - and this week she decided to take for a dive in the house swimming pool.
This time - and with a Madisson watching alone as her boyfriend is on assignment, it's BG who decides to take matters in his hands after they walk into Crescent. There, he confronts JJ about the triangle, and she tells the both to just back off, and they make it clear that they still don't want to be chasing her at the same time. And this second opportunity for #Bramanda may be coming to an end.

JARED OPENS UP: Midway through last season, Jared opened up to his ex Madisson about his experiences suffering from post-traumatic stress syndrome after being discharged from his Naval tour of duty. It's at the outdoor pre-party that Jessica finds out for the first time through Amanda & Chloe that he has PTSD, the latest instance of her getting the scoop on other's business. The exes walk in together and they meet Juliette, then Madisson and Kelsey with the chat with the ladder making for an awkward moment in regards to their relationship.
But then the vibe gets serious, as Jessica then finds out about what she had found out from the girls in him struggling with PTSD. As the synopsis of the YouTube clip below states, "What happened next was an emotional, raw conversation that the two of them needed to have."

In past season preview posts and our bit on the cast role-playing the show it was inspired by, we've written a lot about how Siesta Key differs from The Hills in many ways... particularly in bringing the social awareness element to the forefront the same way that The Real World and Teen Mom do. Even with the more dramatic nature of Season 3, because of Jared they haven't forgotten about that in bringing the serious topic of mental health that he has dealt with.
And as we write this, Robby's adversary on his 2016 Bachelorette season, Chad Johnson of Ex On The Beach Season 2, has dealt with his own demons in the past week with domestic violence against his ex-girlfriend, a relapse in his battle against alcohol abuse, and police getting called over a possible suicide attempt. Check out our post above for more, and it will be updated in due course with what has gone on in the past week.

BEST OF WEEK 8

Below, SocialPulse highlights of week 8, and tonight sees a trip up to Georgia for the 4th... hopefully they don't have to deal with possibly burning down the house after what the Floribama crew had. We'll talk to you in a day or so for something Jared knows well: a proposal, taking place on the finale of the winter Ex On The Beach, plus The Challenge meets Rebel Wilson. Enjoy tonight, friends...
