As we enter the month of March this weekend and celebrate a Saturday Leap Day tomorrow, we're now entering that time where we'll be spending more of that outdoors with those you enjoy your company with as we say so long to winter and hello to springtime and warmer weather. If you can feel it in the air in some parts of the country it's already here, but for others before you know it the snow will melt and the sun will shine a little bit more thanks to Daylight Savings Time.

For many of you, this will mean plenty of bonding with friends as college kids will soon travel to warmer locales down south for the never-ending madness of Spring Break. For others, it'll be time to fill out those brackets and watch college basketball's best as NCAA March Madness takes over America's sporting attention. And of course, there will be plenty of the good stuff on display on March 17 where we will all dress up in green to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.

And it's with these three items in mind that offers the backdrop to MTV's next new reality series, taking place affectionately in one of the capitals of beer on the whole planet and deep in the heart of the Midwest. It also rekindles a tradition of MTV cameras following famous families, which includes the family of Run of Run DMC and the show that was its highest-rated until the arrival of Jersey Shore took over: The Osbournes with rock star Ozzy, wife Sharon and kids Kelly & Jack. And this show also has a coveted spot: launching in the slot after the Sitch, Snooki & their squad.

The subjects of this series are a family born into a brewing tradition rich in history dating back over a century & a half by their ancestors of their great grandparents who founded a beer brand that bears their surname and created the legacy that is Anheuser-Busch. But now as the family forges a new direction, they are ready to bring everyone to their part of the country for MTV's first reality series based in Mid-America, and to show them how to have a good time being around beer, family and fun in a series that's described as, "a perfect blend of hops, havoc and heart" --- Busch Family Brewed.

Situated on the Mississippi River, St. Louis is one of America's most renowned cities, where 2.8 million people live in a region encompassing Missouri and Illinois. It was part of the Louisiana Purchase at 1803, was the first non-European city to host the Summer Olympics a century later, and where in 2013 the northern suburb of Ferguson was epicenter of civil unrest after the killing of a black man by a white policeman. St. Louis recently fell out of the nation's top 20 metropolitan areas as it's struggled to keep up with other growing cities in the past several decades, but it remains the largest metropolis in Missouri over its neighbors to the west along I-70 in Kansas City.
The Lou has a deep sporting tradition, having been named America's best sports city many times by sporting publications. It's home of the 11-time World Series champion Cardinals, one-time home of the now departed Rams (and the only non-NFL city in the XFL), and soon-to-be home of one of Major League Soccer's four new expansion clubs. After a run helped in part by an '80s song being its unofficial anthem, St. Louis is home of the current holders of hockey's Stanley Cup, the Blues. And four of sports' most well-known voices called them and the old ABA Spirits as they became national figures: Harry Carey, Jack Buck, his son Joe, and Bob Costas.
The Cards and the Blues represent icons of this capital of Mid-America, as does a national landmark along the Mississippi that opened in 1967 as the world's tallest structure of its kind to symbolize America's westward expansion and has given the city its nickname: the Gateway Arch. But perhaps as far as Fortune 500 companies are concerned, no corporate institution is firmly entrenched in the St. Louis community than that of a giant in the world of alcoholic beverages.

(St. Louis Post-Dispatch)
Anheuser-Busch was founded in 1852 as the Bavarian Brewery led by German-American George Schneider, followed years later by Eberhard Anheuser taking over the company. In the 1860's, fellow German immigrant Adolphus Busch began working for the Anheuser brewery after he and the boss' daughter got married... and he would ultimately purchase the share of the company held by St. Louis pharmacist William D'Oench by 1870.
Under his guidance, Anheuser-Busch became a brewing pioneer: pasteurization, refrigeration, transportation and bottling of beers became commonplace as railways expanded its reach coast to coast. In 1876, a trip to Europe that Busch made saw him discover new changes in brewing and a new kind of beer in pilsner beer in a small town in the Czech Republic. The result of that was Budweiser, which became America's first national beer brand and became a national icon in the decades after.
Extensive advertising, a new brand in Michelob, expanded facilities and more would mark the turn of the century for AB as new boss August Anheuser Busch, Sr. took over after his dad's passing. But then came Prohibition, which limited the company to making only non-alcoholic beverages and even ice cream during the two decades it was in place. But when the 18th Amendment to the Constitution was repealed during the Great Depression, the brewing industry emerged out of its slumber as Anheuser-Busch became America's largest brewer as its products began to imported globally.
In 2008 after a hostile takeover bid, the company's corporate parent keys were passed over to Belgium-based InBev, putting Budweiser and its family under the same umbrella with such renowned beers as Beck's, Stella Artois and Labatt. As new bosses, InBev laid off thousands of employees including some of AB's top executives, sold off SeaWorld and its theme parks before the Blackfish bombshell, and got sent to court for watering down the quality of their beers.
But as many things have changed over the years, others have stayed the same: the Busch name still adorns the Cardinals' ballpark, the original Budweiser brewery is a National Historic Landmark that offers daily free tours, and Budweiser and Bud Light are still prominent advertisers during the Super Bowl. And some of its most popular commercials during the biggest sporting event in this country stars the squad of horses known as the Budweiser Clydesdales.

As the every ten years ritual known as the U.S. Census takes place this year, Missouri lies within the West North Central section of the Midwest. This part of the nation has never had an MTV Reality series be filmed in its backyard, through some notable alumni have roots in this area... none bigger than several times Challenger and two-time champion Wes Bergmann who calls KC home, one that's now also home to the new Super Bowl champion Chiefs.
But St. Louis can lay claim to being hometown to one resident of Siesta Key: Kelsey Owens grew up here before she traveled the world as a model, and then moving to Florida when her mom's battle with MS forced the daughter to step away from posing for the camera and be a caretaker. Now, Kelsey's ready to watch her city take center stage for the first time on MTV, coming 20 years after hometown boy Nelly took over TRL and the music world.

The Busch Family Brewed will star the direct, modern-day descendants of the now-former owners of Anheuser-Busch. It is the latest TV project to document the famous Busch family, with drama series in the pipeline to chronicle this brewing dynasty... but this reality series will be much different: the family themselves are the stars. The series' synopsis reads, "No one brings the party like the Busch family. With their good looks, athleticism, sprawling estate, pets and toys, there's never a dull moment."
The Buschs call home a sprawling 700-acre estate on the outskirts of the St. Louis area which affords the two parents and their seven good-looking children to enjoy the ample amount of space with ATV's, jet skis and pets including those famous horses. And there's also the business side: the family and the husband who doesn't take himself too seriously is building a craft brewery on their property to create their own beer and carry on their ancestors' rich legacy.
Those who watched The Osbournes two decades ago know that their Beverly Hills mansion was an absolute madhouse. It will be the case in the Busch household with more than double the occupancy living under their roof (with its own fireman's pole), with not just a fledgling local beer company to manage, but also drama with break-ups and big moves in the itineraries of a group of youngsters who range from young adults in their late twenties to a 13-year-old son. And it's up to the mom to keep things all in check around here, while making sure that this group has a good time as rowdy as any great royal family.
And as the biographies of the cast and a few of their significant others written by MTV.com point out, The Busch family is truly unlike any family we've had on the channel in recent years, outside of the two Shore casts, of course.

🍺 BILLY Sr."The Joke"  "Billy Sr. comes from a family whose name is synonymous with pouring up a good time. His great-grandfather, Adolphus Busch, started one of America's most iconic beer companies, making his family the closest thing to American royalty. Billy Sr. wants to open up a new brewery to continue the Busch family legacy, but at his core, he's the goofy dad who loves to embarrass his wife and kids."

🍺 CHRISTI - "The Queen"  "Christi is the center of the Busch family, and her No. 1 goal is to keep her kids close. As the quintessential helicopter mom, Christi admittedly struggles with loosening the reins on her children, from 14-year-old Peter to 28-year-old Billy Jr. She and Billy Sr. are breaking ground on a new brewery on their property, designed to keep the kids invested in the family business (and keep them at home)."

🍺 BILLY Jr. - "The Responsible One"  "As the oldest of seven, Billy feels he's responsible for keeping the Busch legacy alive for the next generation. However, he finds himself at odds with his family over his girlfriend, Marissa, and whether or not she has the right "motives." He's ready to grow up and make some big decisions -- of course, that's only if Christi lets him!"

🍺 HALEY"The Sweet One"  "Haley is a sweetheart and a romantic. She's an actress who has been in a relationship with her boyfriend, Clark, for eight years and has moved back from L.A. to St. Louis to be closer to him. She's always put Clark first, but now she feels torn between waiting on Clark to propose and pursuing an acting career in Hollywood. Haley will have to decide between love and her dreams."

🍺 ABBEY - "The Wild Child"  "Abbey is the ultimate wild child. Unlike the rest of the family, Abbey hates St. Louis and has found her forever home in Florida with her serious boyfriend, Matt. Abbey tries to avoid coming back to St. Louis, unless it's for a big family event -- or if Christi uses a major guilt trip to get her back home."

🍺 GUSSIE - "The Ladies' Man"  "Ladies' man Gussie is all about having fun, playing polo, and enjoying the family farm. But when he starts sneaking around and dating one of his sister Grace's friends, he finds himself in a serious relationship -- and in serious trouble with his family."

🍺 GRACE - "The Blunt One"  "Blunt and blonde, Grace is an equestrian jumper who isn't afraid to tell it like it is. When her older brother Gussie starts sneaking around with one of her friends, Grace is more than ready to let him know he's crossed the line."

🍺 MADDIE - "The Wise One"  "Wise beyond her years, Maddie may be the youngest Busch girl, but she's far from naïve. She's always ready to drop more wisdom than her family is ready for."

🍺 PETER - "The Baby"  "Prankster Peter is the spoiled baby of the family. He gets away with murder, especially with Christi! Will the older siblings be able to help Peter grow up?"

🍺 JAKE - Billy Jr.'s Friend  "Jake met Billy Jr. in college, and by the way Jake acts, he might as well still be there. The Busches want to help him out, but will a makeover and some tough love help this party animal settle down and find a girlfriend?"

🍺 MARISSA - Billy's Girlfriend "Marissa and Billy Jr. have been dating for a year. The only problem is that Marissa lives in Dallas. Oh, and the rest of the Busches think she's only in it for the money. Marissa is ready to take the next step with Billy by moving in together, but will she be able to win over his family?"

🍺 CLARK - Haley's Boyfriend  "Clark is Haley's long-term boyfriend who loves St. Louis and has no plans to leave. He is stubbornly set in his ways, and the family questions if Clark's ever going to change enough to take the next step and pop the question to Haley."

Those who follow the broader reality TV picture and where families are documented by the cameras have seen not just the wild fun of Ozzy & his family, but also years' worth of what the Kardashian clan has had in the public limelight, the struggles of raising eight kids that Jon & Kate Gosselin had, and the famous family of Toni Braxton. But have you seen a family have a dad who doubles as the family clown, a party animal who loves to pour the good stuff on his body, or a matriarch mother who can also dance on the top of a bar like a 24-year-old? The Busch Family Brewed will be something else... and that includes plenty of dance moves.
