As we speak to you, we have Johnny Bananas on TV three times a week on three different channels: the new season of Worst Cooks in America on Food Network on Sunday, hosting NBC's 1st Look after SNL on Saturday, and of course MTV's Total Madness at midweek. Next month, Karamo Brown & his Fab Five return for Season 5 of Netflix's Queer Eye in where his journey began back in where his Real World season took place in Philadelphia. And the list goes on for everyone from Mike The Miz and Jamie Chung to those we're watching on the current Challenge being on anything from The Blacklist and Big Brother to Teen Mom to How Far is Tattoo Far?, even Dr. Phil.
Jamie has arguably one of the most successful media careers of anyone who's done a Real World season or a Challenge as after her winning Inferno II she has gone on to a successful acting career including The Gifted, The Hangover movie trilogy, being part of Disney's Oscar-winning Big Hero 6, starring alongside The Hills' Audrina Patridge in Sorority Row and many other roles. And she also shares the same freshman class of Season 14 of The Real World in San Diego as one who, this past week, has called time to her time on TV - and one who was the same age as Siesta Key's main protagonist Juliette Porter when she entered our lives a year short of the roaring twenties.
Cameran Eubanks was only 19 years old when she also entered that San Diego pier-side Real World house in 2004. She came to us from Anderson, South Carolina in the western part of the state near Greenville and grew up in an upper-class family that epitomizes being picture-perfect... but she isn't exactly that Southern Belle. MTV's bio on Cam described her as "warm, friendly and down to earth," but she's also someone who can be outspoken at times and loves playing pranks on everyone. She had an year-long relationship with an off-and-on boyfriend who she looked at as a "trophy," but who was also affected by a high school divorce of her parents, Robert and Bonnie. And she also worked in cosmetics and at a pizza/sandwich place before she auditioned for MTV.
When she was out in California, Cameran had quite a summer in town, starting with the culture shock she had in expressing a dislike for Yankee people from up north who talk loud, wear sleeveless tees and ride motorcycles. Ironically, she didn't meet someone like Chicagoan Brad Fiorenza, who rode into town on that bike, and after some time they began to lock eyes on each other. Soon enough, they were making out - first when they played truth or dare while on a weekend camping excursion, and when they were in a hot tub late night while on vacation in Greece... their romance was the talk of the town even as room keys were lost in the hotel and got yelled at that same night - and even earning her a gig hosting a Girls Gone Wild video.
Cam also experimented with kissing a girl back when Katy Perry was a struggling indie artist. But because she was underage, she couldn't walk into a club... or could she? Cam, of course, had to plea to get a fame ID card and she managed to make her way in... which caused Brad to get held up by the bouncers at the door. As they worked on a yacht for their job, she had tension with the other female roommates in Jamie, future Challenger Robin Hibbard & the late Frankie Abernathy... and it's when Frankie's replacement Charlie Dordevich ditched work for girlfriend time that cost everyone work bonuses, Cam broke his guitar and paid the consequences for fixing it.
Cameran would later take her talents to two seasons of The Challenge, starting when she, Brad, Robin, Randy Barry and Jacquese Smith went onto Battle of the Sexes 2 and Cam was the second female eliminated in a time where players were voted out before the implementation of actual battles to determine who would stay and go. She then returned on The Gauntlet II and she, also, would have a short stay when, in facing off against Road Rules X-Treme's Kina, she volunterily gave that win to her because she felt she would be a better team captain than her. But her time on MTV would serve as the prelude to what laid ahead of her eight years later.
In 2013, Cameran reappeared on the Bravo reality series Southern Charm, which follows her and other fellow socialites in Charleston and their professional & personal lives, along with mixing both the drama inherent in these shows with the Southern culture, history and attractions of the largest city in South Carolina. When the world of reality television came back into her life, Cam had a wedding ring on her finger while balancing working in real estate with being a Southern housewife. Not much changed from her MTV days: she likes hanging out with the men, offering any type of advice to them and being modest, sarcastic, snarky and not having much drama along with that smile.
During her time on the show, she has taken on the role of being the voice of reason for the Southern Charm cast, but her most notable of the moments seen below has been of the road to motherhood she had, which culminated in the birth to her first kid, daughter Palmer in the autumn of 2017.
Of those who have done a Challenge at one time or another in two-plus decades, Cameran ranks in a tie for 6th in those who have the largest Instagram followings, as she & new 2-time daddy Cory Wharton have 1.2 million followers there. And it was last week on the app that she revealed that six seasons of bringing Bravo viewers into her life is enough, and she won't return for SC's 7th season later this year. Fellow cast members Naomie Olindo and Chelsea Meissner will also join her on the couch as viewers, as production has been stalled by COVID-19 as the state is only now starting the process of reopening, something that saw Cam go in on the governor for last month.
When Southern Charm first came out, it was around the time that Cameran got married to Dr. Jason Wimberly, an area anesthesiologist who works with patients going through the surgery process in the medical realm. But it was only a few years ago that her husband felt comfortable enough to even be on the show if only for a brief time as she remains a private kind of person -- save for occasional appearances on her Instagram. Still, there has been rumors buzzing in the tabloids about her exit which has sparked some drama with her co-stars, and Cameran released the following note on IG last week to clear the air.
Ask anyone who's a reality TV star, a parent and who has a job when not on camera... and they'll tell you how hard a juggling act that is. Cameran has been able to do that well in the course of the past several years being on Bravo, being a mom, wife to Jason and being in real estate in that luxurious part of the American South. Now that she has put the first item to rest in that department, she can now just relax after what will have been nine total seasons of television on two networks and spanning fifteen years from when she was that wide-eyed 19-year-old to now in her mid-30's, happily married and 3-year-old Palmer running around the place.... quite a life for this Real World'er turned Southern Charmer.
