The wintertime means one thing to this blogger's parents: spending a couple hours on Monday nights watching the start of the annual trilogy of Bachelor Nation. Two weeks ago post champagne-gate, my mom & dad and those who are reality nuts got to enjoy a staple of everyone's slumber parties being brought to a whole new level when pillow wrestling appeared on The Bachelor, and it was called by none other than Fred Willard and Chris Harrison a week after the former left Modern Family. And this past week, Cleveland hosted "The Bachelor Bowl" while Victoria Fuller revealed to star Peter Weber than country crooner Chase Rice is an ex boyfriend of hers.

It is that time of year again for those who are part of the granddaddy of all romantic reality TV series to begin the week... same goes for those at the Revel Social bar in Denver, CO to hold its weekly viewing parties of The Bachelor. Similar scenes will be repeated for The Bachelorette, Bachelor in Paradise and the new music-themed spinoff Listen to Your Heart at where Chase McNary from JoJo Fletcher's now-renowned 2016 Bachelorette class works at after taking sojourns to MTV (where three other suitors from his season followed in his footsteps to both Ex On The Beach and to Siesta Key), and then last year returned to familiar surroundings on Bachelor in Paradise.

What makes Chase's Bachelor Nation viewing parties the happening in town for those in the Mile High City obsessed with the show is that of alumni and current castmates from the ABC franchise join him weekly as special guests of honor to watch roses, romance and rosé with fans. The most recent guest of his to Revel Social is our latest Someone You Should Know subject... one who was with him in Mexico last summer, and is probably the only alum of his show where people must refer to him by his full name, which also happens to be a historical namesake.

John Paul Jones is someone who lays claim to being truly one of a kind among the hundreds of those who have appeared on The Bachelorette or The Bachelor. When he came to Hannah Brown's ill-fated redemption season last summer, he was a financial analyst from Prince George's County, Maryland outside of the nation's capital, and who graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Finance from college. As his season's bio reads, he is one who loves to go traveling, to "contemplate the meaning of life," and who loves to drink champagne.
But this man doesn't go by the mantra of the daily rule book: he is always referred to by his full name that last all of those three syllables -- the same full name as the first significant commander of the navy during the Revolutionary War, two American destroyers used by the Navy, and the bassist & keyboardist of British rock icons Led Zeppelin. And also, JPJ doesn't use words that are one or two syllables long that much. And when he introduced last year's Bachelorette cast on Facebook Live, Harrison compared him to Fast Times at Ridgemont High's Spicoli while also summing him up this way: "JPJ isn't as much a contestant as much as he is a mood. He's a way of life... he might be my new spirit animal."
And his campaign saw him right out of the limo tell Hannah many times to have him be referred to by his full name, and was part of a memorable group date where he was taught to handle parenting with a baby with the help of American Pie's Jason Biggs & wife Jenny Mollen. He made a connection with Hannah in strutting on the runway of a swimsuit contest judged by alumni of RuPaul's Drag Race, having the pageant queen cut his hair, and played rugby before being unceremoniously dumped halfway through.... and he gave the audience at the Tell All pre-reunion some free chicken nuggets.

If fans were bummed that he got the boot much earlier than those expected when Hannah sent him packing in at the halfway point, then they were thrilled at the prospect of him returning for another shot, considering his quirky and comical nature. JPJ returned on last year's Bachelor in Paradise, where he was again a prominent figure in the Sayulita Villa along with fellow romantic rejects.
This time, he played an even bigger role for the entire duration of that fifth season of the spinoff, when was part of a big romance with Tayshia Adams, a 29-year-old Newport Beach native who was on Colton Underwood's Bachelor season, and who works by day & week as a phlebotomist - one who draws blood from donors. She and JPJ found themselves in love for most of the season, but that romance was interrupted temporarily by Derek Puth of Chase's Bachelorette season vibing with her and leading to JPJ screaming at him enough to send her crush home.
Much to fans' excitement, JPJ and Tayshia dated for some time after they left Paradise when they went their separate ways before the final roses were handed out, and they thought they had something going for them. But them living in different parts of the country made it hard for them to maintain this kind of public relationship, and they broke up before the season finale last September... and it became permanent later that fall after a second try to connect also came up empty when he moved out to California - not to live with her but to pursue acting.

Chase welcomed John Paul Jones to Denver to watch that pillow fight hosted by Demi Burnett from last year's Bachelor and Bachelor in Paradise seasons, as well as the drama surrounding Peter and suitors Alayah Benavidez and Sydney Hightower and the aftermath of the champagne drama. Chase wrote on Instagram, "No intelligence was insulted in the making of this photo! 😜⁣⁣ Such great time at REVEL Social for our Bachelor watch party with one of my favs."
Revel has already hosted Dallas investor Connor Saeli from last year's Bachelorette and BIP seasons and will welcome a fellow member of both seasons, Air Force vet Mike Johnson from San Antonio, for next week's Bachelor viewing party at Revel. As mentioned, the Listen To Your Heart Bachelor spinoff was announced this past week with 20 singles living together AYTO style and going on dates, but will feature musical challenges and judging along the lines of fellow ABC show, American Idol, and we'll be highlighting two connections Team MTV has to that iconic series when it returns next month.
