DC ExtraTime: A Couple AYTO 6 Musical Notes...

The global pandemic that's been wrecking the best laid plans we had for 2020 has certainly been hitting the production side of television. Some productions such as the All-Star 22nd season of Big Brother with a couple Challengers having just begun, the summer turned fall cycle of The Bachelorette continues filming, and others like Season 2 of Love Island U.S. will soon follow. For those of us who follow MTV Reality, then the hybrid love fest/Jersey Shore spinoff A Double Shot at Love will have to do when it comes to our usual fix of reality romance for the time being, as things are up in the air for when the next seasons of Are You The One and Ex On The Beach will go down.

If there is something of a debate going around the fandom of which of the eight seasons of AYTO is the most memorable, then it's anyone's game. Season 1 has the trendsetters and the perfect match of Amber & Ethan, Season 3 has the crossover appeal of doing many MTV series since, Season 5 having notable figures who've managed to get over losing $800,000, and last year's Season 8 who proved that you can love anyone and not be limited to just the opposite gender. But if there's one cast who have made a huge case in this question, then it's the AYTO Season 6 cast from three years ago.

Obviously, this year began on a tragic note when a beloved member of that cast Alexis Eddy passed away too soon, but a serendipity to what's otherwise been a lost year of 2020 is that there have been some good things happening for her "Sexy Season 6" alumni, and she would certainly feel so proud of them. There's been parenthood for Anthony Martin & AYTO 5's Shannon Duffy, a girl dancing on Let's Make A Deal, and engagements for lovebirds Clinton Moxam & Uche Nwosu and fitness heartthrob Michael Dean. But the two members of this cast who have had enjoyed this year are no doubt the two subjects featured here.

For Nurys Mateo, in the course of the past year-plus she's showed up on the beach to settle things in her AYTO NOLA love triangle with new daddy Malcolm Drummer and Diandra Delgado (who got to dance on that legendary game show), then proceeded to make out with Cardi B. in the opening scene of her music video for "Press." And last month, we saw her again in a music video for a big star in the music industry when she was one of the two girls who flew in from the sky into a house party thrown by Chris Brown in his new single "Go Crazy." It's safe to say that Nurys is now an in-demand lady in the music video world, and over the weekend she added another name to that list.

Those who got to enjoy the two season run of the spin-off of FOX's hit series Empire, STAR (which we profiled a few years ago when a Real World alum appeared as an extra), got to see Quincy Taylor Brown, son of Sean "P. Diddy" Combs' late model girlfriend Kim Porter and Al B. Sure! and bearing the name of his godfather, the legendary Quincy Jones. The younger Quincy eventually was adopted by the Making the Band impresario, and it's because of his expertise that he helped throw the new son a 16th birthday bash worthy of Hollywood right in Quincy's Atlanta backyard for an episode of MTV's My Super Sweet 16 back a few years ago.

After moving around all over the place, eventually the son settled in Los Angeles from high school onwards. Despite living in the shadow of two of his most well-known parents, Quincy has forged to carve a path of his own across the music, modeling, acting, directing, photography and tech worlds: as a model he got to walk the runway for Naomi Campbell during New York Fashion Week, while he sat in the director's chair for a few music videos. He would eventually step in front of the camera playing Ryan Destiny's love interest Derek Jones on STAR and starring alongside Vampire Diaries' Kat Graham for Netflix's The Holiday Calendar, plus cameos on CSI and The Kardashians.

In 2016, Quincy got to follow in his dad's footsteps in signing his first record deal with P. Diddy's Bad Boy label where he dropped three singles and an EP album, all after getting to star in music videos for Zendaya and Jasmine Villegas. Most recently, he moved across to the label headed by the well-known dad of Ex On The Beach host Romeo Miller, Master P.'s Cinq, where he will get to forge his new musical direction in establishing a more global sound but still staying true to where he began in the R&B field. And Quincy will be a busy man as, besides his music, he also will get to be the first celebrity pitchman for Coach's watches line, as well as Montblanc.

Last week, the now 29-year-old Quincy dropped his first single in two years and for the Cinq label entitled, "Aye-Yo," which has a vibe that will make you want to dream of going on that vacation you've always wanted. The dancehall track molds his R&B chords with Latin elements, with the help of Trinidadian hitmaker Angele Hunte and Latin producer DJ Buddha, who have collectively worked for Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Pitbull, Daddy Yankee and Lil' Jon. Cinq label head Barry Daffurn says of his new signee, "His music has an authentic ability to connect cultures and eliminate barriers."

The "Aye-Yo" video sees Quincy do something most of us are only dreaming of right now as we're all stuck at home: traveling abroad to a European city, ocean included. Since the borders are closed and as the industry gets used to a new reality created by COVID, production of the video was made possible through green screen. He invited Daily Mail and Entertainment Tonight to drop in for an exclusive look at "Aye-Yo" coming to life on the visual side, and where he also gets to travel back in time from the '50s to now when it comes to fashion. He says of the clip, "It's about taking the past, taking history and redefining it, but not in a way that the elements are mocked, but with a little edge."

Nurys happens to play Quincy's love interest who gets to travel along with him from that happy go lucky time of seven decades ago being dressed like an I Love Lucy sitcom star to just relaxing on the beach with him in her bikini, among many wardrobe changes in the video. When announcing her latest music video cameo Nurys captioned on Instagram, "Think you on game but let me show you something different 😌 #AyeYo". And not surprisingly, Didi, Jada Simone and AYTO5's Kam and Tyranny showed their IG affection once again for Nurys, with Quincy himself adding in the comments section, "Heardju intoballin girl youbetter runit."

Someone who also shared the same New Orleans house with Nurys and the rest of the AYTO 6 cast, the castmate formerly known as Tyler Colon but now known as Tai Verdes, has just dropped the visual version of his TikTok sensation, "Stuck in the Middle." He has pushed the song on the app that has made some news in the course of the past week, but where it has gained enough traction to make it into Rolling Stone and to rock/alternative powerhouse KROQ in Los Angeles.
Below, the video for "Stuck in the Middle," which premiered earlier this week on YouTube... the latest chapter in what's been an eventful 2020 for him and the rest of the "Sexy Season 6" crew.
