If you have watched the entire run of the Teen Mom franchise dating back to the original 16 & Pregnant series thirteen years ago next month, then you can appreciate the longevity of Catelynn & Tyler. If you're a Real World fan dating back from when it began thirty years ago this coming week, you'll be happy to know that there are those like Judd & Pam and Sean & Rachel who are still together as we all watch the New Orleans Homecoming. And for a show we've seen from day 1, there's Amber & Ethan from the first season of Are You The One?, MTV's first entry into modern reality dating television.
It was on AYTO that we first met Kam Williams when she came onto Season 5, and a year later she went onto The Challenge leading the current generation of female competitors and notching several finals appearances. And after she was part of the only group of singles to go home broke in that love house, it was on a Challenge that she would ultimately meet her perfect match: one of the show's most-respected players who started on MTV when Las Vegas welcomed Real World a second time a decade ago. Leroy Garrett always stayed calm, cool and collected with the occasional laugh in the heat of the battle... and despite walking away without a ring, he still remains one of its most beloved players.
Collectively, Kam and Leroy have been on seventeen Challenges, and the last four they were on together -- making the final together on both War of the Worlds II and Double Agents. But it has been after she placed second and in the money in Europe last year that the best time of their lives awaited them... and the course of the past half-year they have now not one, but those two signs that we're all getting up there in both age and wanting to move into the real world outside reality TV.
First, it began with doing what a lot of people got to do when we all gathered with our loved ones amidst the glow of the Christmas holidays last year: the pre-holiday week saw them announce on their Instagram feeds that they were expecting their first kid together.
Kam wrote in her post below, "We always give each other the best gifts that money can’t buy, & this is by far the best gift we’ve been able to give & ever receive 👶🏽🎁🎄❤️ Feels so good to be able to announce & share that we are becoming parents!! Our journey never fails to suprise me!! I love you so much @royleethebarber & can’t wait to meet our new edition to our fam 🥰 #Christmas2021 🎄" And Leroy added in his caption, "Our greatest gift. Thank you God for this blessing, I’m beyond grateful. His timing is always right. I can’t wait to be a daddy 🙌🏽🖤 👶🍼Coming June 2022"
Next on the agenda for our new parents were all of the usual pleasantries that come with expecting that first kid -- good thing they have a bunch of those in Challenge Nation to give them some advice in transitioning from competing on The Challenge to handling that ultimate of life's challenges. That included them getting to reveal the sex of Baby KamRoy...
After finding out that the new kid would be a boy Kam wrote, "Our greatest gift to each other 👶🏽💙! #boymom #itsaboy I always think back to the moment we first met to where we are now. Right before I met you I was looking for love, when I actually met you I wasn’t. I guess things really do come to you when you’re not looking at all 🥰 We’ve always trusted the process & let things happen on Gods timing which is never wrong! I look forward to bringing our first child into the world and raising a little version of you and witnessing you becoming a dad. Thank you for loving me the way you do. Love you both so much 💙"
And as they have entered the last two months or so of this road to being both a mom and a dad, their fellow Challengers got together over a week ago to fete the parents-elect... and it was there in that Houston event center that they also shared one more thing. Just before they invited them to their baby shower, they had gotten engaged.
And below, some familiar faces get the opportunity to congratulate the newly-engaged Kam and Leroy, as they await the arrival of that baby youngster.
