The past week we've just had to endure once again reminded us of how bad both this world and the last two years & a quarter have been. But those of you who get to visit my various social media platforms are reminded that whenever you come to this DCBLOG site, to my YouTube channel, Twitter, Instagram and everywhere else, that you have found "The Escape You Deserve." And one of the things that provides us a refresher from the madness has been of celebrating the arrival of new babies.

Five years ago this spring, Bayleigh Dayton from the Kansas City area was competing in the Miss USA Pageant along with what turned out to be a slew of future reality stars: fellow contestants in her 2017 class would ultimately pop up later on The Voice, in Bachelor Nation and on Are You the One. Bay would also follow in the footsteps of DeAnna Johnson, Kelsey Weier and Lauren Roush into finding further fame elsewhere: a year later, she would find herself in the Big Brother 20 house, and she came out of the famed summer house sporting an engagement ring on her fingers when Chris "Swaggy C." Williams proposed to her on the final night when Kaycee Clark came away victorious.

The #SWAYLEIGH train has seen them head to courtside at many Lakers games, red carpets, and onto The Challenge: Total Madness two years ago where Bayleigh made it to the final. And almost right after when the pandemic hit, an All-Star Big Brother season would come calling as straight off of she was chosen to return to the big house. But had things gone their way a few years ago, then the total direction of this story would have changed: when she was living along in the BB20 house during the sixth week of that summer, Bay found out that she had gotten pregnant prior to Swaggy being evicted four weeks earlier. This was the first time that someone had gotten knocked up on the show... but it was after she went into the Jury house that she found that she miscarried that kid.

Some four years later, and Swayleigh have been going about life outside of the TV cameras: Chris has continued to follow his two biggest passions of basketball and stock investing (and the related world that has gone wild the past month of cryptocurrency), and Bayleigh has kept things on the down-low a bit -- and that is a for a good reason. This past week, she marked her birthday by posting this picture on Instagram and surprising her followers right out of the ordinary.

The new mommy to be wrote above, "I used to dream of being a wife and a mother & now I am living those dreams. ... My first pregnancy didn’t happen the way that I had dreamt it. It was a unplanned and sudden surprise. But, as soon as I found out I was pregnant that baby was the only thing that mattered to me at all. When I lost it, I was devastated. I never really recovered from the loss. I just didn’t feel like I could do anything right. ... I can’t believe I’m going to be a mommy in a few weeks. 🥹🥰"

In another post above, Swayleigh had planned on waiting until the moment of them giving birth to totally stun all of us by surprise... but instead the parents-elect chose her birthday to make the big reveal to everyone despite it taking place just days after the tragedy in Texas. They wrote to their new kid, "To our baby, we’re going to give you the WORLD. Everything I do is for YOU! You will have the best life ever, I swear. THE BEST LIFE EVER!!!! We’ll see you in a few weeks 🙇🏾‍♂️ Cheers to our baby 🌹 I love you forever!"

As expected, so many of the reality community sent their congrats to Bayleigh and Chris... and that included one Da'Vonne who wrote in the comments: "Congratulations!!! Remember the conversation we had THAT year? … All in God’s timing ✨✨✨you’re going to be an AMAZING father!!! Sending love and positivity ✨✨."

As both the NBA and the NHL are in postseason mode - and as NFL teams partake in organized training activities after the 2022 schedule reveal, baseball will soon take its rightful place as the only game in town within the four major sports. After a quiet winter due to a labor dispute that saw the owners lock out the players and pushed back both spring training and opening day, the 2022 hardball season is now in full swing. But even with all the focus on both the American and National Leagues, it's worth knowing that it's not just the Major Leagues that dominate the baseball scene: right now, the road to the College World Series is going on as colleges eye a trip to Omaha for the main tournament. And soon after, many of those players will await their names being chosen in the MLB Draft.

Baseball is different from its gridiron and arena counterparts in many ways: 162 games and a 6-month regular season means a far greater number of fans coming to games in the thirty cities that have MLB teams. But below the major league level is Minor League Baseball, where hundreds of teams -- most of whom being affiliated with parent MLB clubs -- play in other big cities and small towns to gain some valuable cred towards being potentially called up to the big show. There was a time back in the early days that MILB rivaled that its MLB cousins for the attention of the baseball public, but nowadays the minors are relegated to the back pages of the sports section.

Why are we bringing this topic of the minor leagues up? It's for that two of those who've once competed on the same season of The Challenge long ago got engaged to minor leaguers: earlier this year during the MLB crisis, AYTO Season 1 original Brittany Baldi got engaged to pitcher Ryan Dull, a 5-year veteran of three MLB teams and who currently pitches for High Point in the independent Atlantic League. And before that, it was another competitor on the season that started the show's gradual expansion of the draft field on Battle of the Exes 2 that brings to the other one.

Ten years ago at the end of summer 2012, life changed for Jessica McCain when she was chosen to be part of The Real World Portland cast, followed by going onto the first of a few Challenge seasons. Not long ago, we let you in on her saying yes to that ring when another minor league pitcher, J.P. France of the Triple-A Sugar Land Skeeters (an affiliate of the Houston Astros) proposed to her... and for Ms. Thirsty (if you saw RWPDX, she was part of a song with that name as the title with Jordan's partner on Rivals II and a single on Season 4 of Ex On The Beach, Marlon), she too also is expecting:

A fellow All-Star had this to say, as Nia wrote to Mrs. France: "Soooo happy for you baby!!!! You are so deserving of this beautiful blessing and your testimony is one that will inspire other women on their own journey to motherhood. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I love you sooooo much! I cannot wait to watch you and JP bring this little life into the world 🥰🙏🏾"  Our congrats go out to both Swayleigh and Jessica on their new additions... but they're not the only ones in Team MTV to welcome a new kid: we'll tell you who else in the fam just welcomed their second kid when we cover Ex On The Beach just ahead.
