Inside MTV Reality: The Siesta Key WRAP - Newbies, Make-Ups & a Birthday

We've just had Hollywood's biggest weekend in all of Hollywood, as the biggest stars in movies gathered for the annual celebration of the 2019 in film at the Oscars, and with it came plenty of parties for everyone in the entertainment industry. That includes a Korean director who stole the show as his film Parasite won Best Picture and much history as they must've been playing the K-Pop in SoCal. A group of people who knows a thing about throwing galas, fiestas and pool parties is the cast of Siesta Key, and it's there that we kick off our look at last week Inside MTV Reality (and apologies as I caught the flu bug and these posts are up later than planned).

Previously - and in a bizarre repeat of what Lauren Conrad found herself with on The Hills on her first season, Juliette found herself having to make a choice between a new job she took up at a startup fashion boutique or accepting her boyfriend Robby's request to join her for a summertime trip over to Greece... and she chose the ladder rather than what LC did of staying in the mainland. Meanwhile, Brandon, Amanda, Jared & Kelsey went on a boat trip that might as well be called "Ex On The Key," for that Amanda's ex J.J. joined in on the fun. And while he's now been tasked by his dad to join Chloe to run a local pub, Alex had to deal with ex Cara one more time before she bolted away.

With him back in town, it's time for Alex to introduce his new girl to everyone... and it comes at, of course, a party - also with plenty of newbies and a chance to make things up for those two girls. The top moments and tweets of Episode 5 from the Key await you after the jump before a new episode airs tonight.

 THINGS TO KNOW
EPISODE 5

THE SHOWDOWN: We begin with the exes meeting up, and the last time that #JALEX was in the same room in this town was last summer with a whole lot going down when they broke up when Chloe's discovery of Alex & that girl at the concert came to her attention after that necklace was given to Juliette.
In her opening narration, she comes to grips that, "I think I got caught up with my new guy and hurt my friends in the process," and that "There are times when Siesta Key is literally hell in paradise." She tells Kelsey about how it went and how there was a camera in every part of the trip to Greece. But it's when she's at his place that Robby tells her that Alex texted him and then get into a virtual argument through texts.
It's with that in mind that Juliette decides to clear the air and go to Alex's house, and she rolls up to the Kompo Palace in a Benz of all things to clear things up with him feeling scared and nervous of meeting her ex. And there, Alex calls Robby "a f____ loser" and that he's not over Jules. And after she asks, "You haven't found a girl that isn't as hot as me?", Jules storms off. We'll meet her shortly...

COMINGS & GOINGS: The end of Episode 4 saw Cara freak out on the boat with Alex, and it looks like that she has just about had it, as she decides to ditch the Key and head back up to New Jersey. But like any soap opera, as one character goes another one walks in, and here it's Jake, brand director for Robby's Rebella company and the boss' right-hand man, along with a friend of theirs in Joe. When he chats it up with Kelsey (and also making sure to not forget about SK's unique social awareness aspect), Jake brings up the health issues his dad has gone through, similar to what Kelsey's mom has also had as they play table tennis... which may play into Jared's head too. Elsewhere, after what went down at Brandon's party there's now some uncertainty with him and Amanda as he wants them to be official... but she tells him to be patient and "see where this goes... let's just have fun."

AMANDA'S PARTY: In what's now become par for the course as is the case in the Ex On The Peak chalet, there's always a party in every episode here this year - and this time, it's Amanda's turn to play MC. It's her birthday party where it's "cocktail attire required" for this dress-down twilight gala, and once again everyone is invited to the party at Sarasota Modern, except Robby. There and per usual, plenty goes down with Jake wasting no time to call Alex a sociopath and JJ also being invited to the party after the previous week's boat outing.
But aside from giving the bad girl her time in the spotlight, forgiveness is the theme of this night, as the girls take responsibility of what happened at the housewarming and be adults in dealing with it in saying sorry. For here, Amanda forgives Jules for not telling her on the spot of what happened to her phone, which Robby tossed into the sea and had to get a replacement as a birthday gift. And Jules then says sorry to Chloe for the fight that occurred weeks ago.

HERE'S THE NEW GIRL: If you remember last year's premiere, you may recall that conversation Juliette and Chloe had where the ladder's hairdresser was mentioned... well, the second month of this season sees her introduction as Alex's new girlfriend Alyssa enters the picture. And she happens to be THAT hairdresser Jules was talking about, as her first scene sees Alyssa and Alex have a twilight date on his boat with wine and cheese, and who have been friends since they were kids.
It's not until Amanda's party that the night's second showdown takes place when Alex brings Alyssa along, and where as night falls they meet up with his ex. It was just a month earlier that the new girl was blowdrying the queen's hair without any knowledge that the hairdresser was with her ex, and once again things heat up with the exes and with Alyssa... just another party in Siesta.
